Safety Tips for Boating in Miami

South Florida’s near-perfect year-round weather means that the boating season does not end with the close of summer. For anyone who plans to operate or ride in a vessel this fall, particularly young adults, there are several safety tips that may help prevent accidents on the water.

Safety tips to help prevent boating accidents:

    • Wear a life jacket
    • Never drive impaired by drugs or alcohol
    • Designate a lookout
    • Follow all posted signs
    • Be aware of your surroundings, including other vessels
    • Watch out for inclement weather or water conditions

The more precautions you take, the better prepared you will be in the event of an emergency. If you are involved in a boating accident, you need to consult with an attorney about your right to compensation. Depending on the situation, you might be entitled to financial recovery for any of your losses, including lost wages, loss of future earning capacity, medical bills, pain and suffering, and more.
