Background

Scott P. Mebane is a Shareholder at Mase Mebane & Briggs practicing in the areas of admiralty, civil litigation, international arbitration, product liability and personal injury.  He began practicing law in 1990, after receiving his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he was a member of the Moot Court. After serving as law clerk to the Honorable Senior United States District Judge, Hiram H. Ward, for the Middle District of North Carolina, he accepted an appointment as an Assistant United States Attorney, where he served as a prosecutor until 1997.  Following his work at a private civil practice with a large firm in North Carolina, he moved to Miami in 2001 where he eventually joined Curtis Mase and Thomas Briggs in 2006.

  Scott Mebane’s practice over the last twenty-three years has included products liability, including automobile and industrial trucks, and construction defect litigation. However, since joining Mase Mebane & Briggs he has focused exclusively on maritime law.  

Scott has tried dozens of jury, non-jury matters, and international arbitrations in Florida, across the country and around the world and has also lectured on various aspects of maritime law. He has earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized in Florida Super Lawyers.
