A 14-year old girl from Illinois was visiting Palm Beach, Florida to play in a softball tournament. Her coach arranged an outing at a house on Lake Osbourne. The softball team had a BBQ there and the owner of the home allowed the team to use his jet ski. When coming back to the dock, our client accelerated too quickly, lost control and slammed into a dock piling fracturing her jaw and sustaining facial injuries. She had several facial reconstruction surgeries following the accident. We sued the owner of the jet ski for negligent entrustment and after a trial and appeal, his insurer paid $1,000,000.
