Nursing Homes & Medical Facilities
Nursing homes and hospitals are already lobbying for the Florida government to grant them special privileges to protect them from lawsuits. Many hospitals were unprepared and sent their workers to the front lines without adequate equipment. Some nursing homes kept their residents in unsafe conditions. The medical facilities that put profits over safety will be held accountable.
Residential Buildings
Apartment buildings, condominium associations, and senior living facilities have a duty to keep their premises safe for their residents. They must act reasonably under the circumstances. Under pandemic circumstances, this includes following quarantine protocols, reorganizing package and food delivery logistics, protecting employees, and implementing widespread sanitation practices. If you feel like your building did not take adequate precautions and you contracted the virus as a result, then you or a loved one may have a claim.
Grocery Stores and Other Essential Retailers
Food is essential, and so too are the employees who work at grocery stores. However, grocery store workers may feel like they are treated as if they are disposable, especially when employers refuse to give them necessary protection equipment, such as masks and gloves. The same holds true for many other essential businesses like gas stations, restaurants, and pharmacies. Some people call employees at these places heroes, but the sad reality is that they have been sacrificed while trying to maintain a living. If you worked in an essential business, your employer refused to give you adequate protection, and you became infected as a result, then you may have a claim.
